Marco’s Pizza Nights we received $4,800 starts on 9-19. Recently funded assemblies, partnership with PTA for new laminator, Westview PAWS posters, TV in the hallway. Previously purchased chromebooks and prizes for kids on the move. COSI is here 9-27 Mr. Scott is looking for new people to volunteer for Building Excellent Schools Team Committee Homecoming, Chuck E. Cheese, levy committee help, Building Excellent Schools Team Committee, PTA Wheel of Fun- 15 staff this year so far President’s Report – Alice Kimmel Open Committees are by laws, curriculum Liaison, staff appreciation, testing bags, legislation, Public Relations, need 2nd council delegate. Fire safety house for 3rd grade Pink out spirit day was great, a lot of students and staff showed support for Piper Student Council has a schedule for upcoming spirit days Halloween Parade, parties were a lot of fun 3rd grade Ohio State Testing for English language arts 11-8 and 9 all online Penny wars: $1,536.53 was raised for breakfast for service workers in Avon Lake and another project determined by Student Council. Tru Pace was sworn in for council delegate. Principal’s Report - Mr. Moore Thank you for coming today and great to see some new faces. Looking forward to another great year at Westview. Traditions and change is good. Color walk was new last year, very successful. Technology will be used more this year. Mrs. Baker wrote a grant was able to purchase 5 additional chrome books Technology night for parents September 15th. A sign up genius went out for attendance. Mr. Gerhan will focus on grades 3 and 4 Mrs. Bomback, along with Mr. Moore will focus on grades K -2. Examples that will be discussed - Learning google classroom, compass learning, and Raz kids. Trying to keep it to an hour with room for questions. Guest Speaker - Kristen Johnson school nurse Food allergies Heather Smith, mom of a child with severe food allergies, advocate for kids with allergies Voluntary activities, be more mindful of allergies. Westview will send allergy information letters home, safety measures in place with a list of acceptable snacks. Sign up genius reminder of what food allergies are in the specific classroom. Updating website, looking at possibly linking PayPal for PTA events Treasurer’s Report – Carla Sattler $6274.70 Final Vote on 2016-17 budget A motion was made by Alessia Lloyd to approve the budget and Jennifer Tysl seconded, budget was approved by all. Back to school lunch committee was successful with Subs and pasta salad. Next Year have 1st day of school lunch instead.
